Fogarty was very talented fighter; He was strong, boxed and wrestled well, had stamina and carried a solid punch; Jack was the middleweight champion of Pennsylvania during his career; Personally, he was a quiet, domestic type of man; He was a brother of Jimmy Fogarty
Fogarty worked as a packer and shipper of merchandise; He was a boxing enthusiast who attended fights regularly; He began fighting in 1885 by entering a tournament just to get into the buildingDuring his career, he defeated such men as Joe Ellingsworth, Mike Boden, Fred Woods and Bill Gabig; He lost only three bouts during his career and two of those came against the magnificent "Nonpareil" Jack Dempsey and George LaBlanche
