John "Jack" Fogarty

BORN   December 24 1865; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
DIED January 28 1921 (Some sources report February 4 1921)
HEIGHT 5-8
WEIGHT 140-142 lbs

Fogarty was very talented fighter; He was strong, boxed and wrestled well, had stamina and carried a solid punch; Jack was the middleweight champion of Pennsylvania during his career; Personally, he was a quiet, domestic type of man; He was a brother of Jimmy Fogarty

Fogarty worked as a packer and shipper of merchandise; He was a boxing enthusiast who attended fights regularly; He began fighting in 1885 by entering a tournament just to get into the building

During his career, he defeated such men as Joe Ellingsworth, Mike Boden, Fred Woods and Bill Gabig; He lost only three bouts during his career and two of those came against the magnificent "Nonpareil" Jack Dempsey and George LaBlanche

Many old reports are very contradictory; If anyone discovers conclusive data that disagrees with these fight results, please advise Tracy Callis
