Zamora was a powerful hitter who lost little time in throwing bombs; He came to fight and ended most of his bouts early; Thirty-two of his thirty-eight bouts ended in knockout victories; During his career, he won the WBA Bantamweight Championship of the World

He defeated such men as Eusebio Pedroza, Soo-Hwan Hong, Alberto Sandoval, Gilberto Illueca, Thanomchit Sukhothai, Francisco Villegas, Shintaro Uchiyama and Tetsuro Kawakami

Zamora was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 2005
