After a slow start, Rosenberg developed into a fine boxer; He was described as a "pocket size version of Jack Britton"; He was clever, fast and hard-hitting; He possessed a sharp jab and wonderful uppercut; His chin was tough and in 69 bouts, he was never knocked down or stopped; During his career, Charley won the Bantamweight Championship of the World

Among those he defeated were Eddie "Cannonball" Martin, Johnny Dundee, Bushy Graham, Benny Schwartz, Danny Edwards, Bobby Eber, Eddie Shea, Wilbur Cohen, Johnny Curtin, Henny Catena and Sammy Butts
