Corbett (Green) was a very talented fighter who could box or punch; He lost only to the best men and had long, grueling battles of many rounds against Joe Walcott, Tommy Ryan, "Mysterious" Billy Smith, Al Neill and Paddy Smith; He was considered by many to be the Welterweight Champion during his career

Corbett defeated such men as "Mysterious" Billy Smith, Tom Tracey, Dan Creedon, Danny Needham, Billy "Shadow" Maber, Frank McConnell, Charles McKeever and Owen Ziegler
