Foster was a tall, lanky blistering hitter; One of the hardest punchers in ring history, he was simply too powerful for men of his own weight; He punished heavyweights too; Only the best of the big men could handle his punches; His knockout victory over Mike Quarry documented one of the most perfect punches ever thrown; During his career, he won the WBC Light-Heavyweight Championship of the World and the WBA Light-Heavyweight Championship of the World

Bob defeated such men as Dick Tiger, Eddie Cotton, Henry Hank, Roger Rouse, Willi Besmanoff, Vicente Rondon, Mike Quarry, Pierre Fourie, Andy Kendall, Mark Tessman, Ray Anderson, Frankie DePaula, Brian Kelly, Chris Finengan and Andres Selpa

Herb Goldman ranked Foster as the #4 All-Time Light-Heavyweight; Bob was inducted into the Ring Boxing Hall of Fame in 1983, the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1984 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990
