During his career, Couhig defeated such famous men as William "Matty" Matthews, William "Kid" McPartland, Eddie Connolly, Roxy Kanell, James "Curley" Supples, Billy Moore, Eddie Burns (two times) and Martin Duffy (two times); He fought draws against Frank Erne, Otto Sieloff and Cy Flynn
