Torres was a formidable pugilist who threw solid punches; He lost only 9 of 62 bouts and scored 34 knockouts; During his career, he won the WBC Flyweight Championship of the World and the Flyweight Championship of Mexico

"Alacran" defeated such men as Pascual Perez, Chartchai Chionoi, Jose Medel, Susumu Hanagata, Raton Mojica, Jupiter Mansilla and Bob Allotey

Torres was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 2007
