Daly was a fairly good fighter in a period of great fighters; He was a one-time Heavyweight Champion of Pennsylvania and a boxer-wrestler who met such wrestlers as Jack Carkeek, Jack Hart, and Jack Murray; He also served as a trainer for Jim Corbett and sparring partner for Corbett and Jim Jeffries
