EVANSVILLE, IN - Rugged and beloved Indiana welterweight, Kevin Payne, paid the ultimate price in winning a split decision victory over Ryan Maraldo Saturday night at "The Center": According to www.boxrec.com , "Kevin Payne died due to injuries suffered in this bout on 2006/03/19."

Some photos of Payne, along with a link to a story at the Cyber Boxing Zone covering his bout against legendary fighter Marty Jakubowski, a stoppage loss on November 19, 2004, follow.

At age 34, Kevin Payne's final record was 14-5-1 with six knockouts.
