Lopez was a talented crowd pleaser who could deliver terrific punches; In a career of nearly 50 bouts, he won all but six contests and scored knockouts in all but three of his victories; During his career, he won the WBC Featherweight Championship of the World; "Little Red" is a brother of the boxer Ernie Lopez

Danny defeated such men as Ruben Olivares, Jesus "Chucho" Castillo, Sean O'Grady, Roberto Castanon, Mike Ayala, Jose Caba, Juan Domingo Malvarez, Jose Francisco DePaula, David Kotey, Art Hafey, Jose Torres, Octavio Gomez and Masanao Toyoshima

Lopez was inducted into the California Boxing Hall of Fame in 2005 and is an inductee into the World Boxing Hall of Fame
