Lewis was a big, strong Super Heavyweight who moved well, possessed a good jab, super right hand punch and very good left also; He had a solid chin and great confidence; He won several versions of the Heavyweight Championship of the World during his career

As an amateur, he won the Commonwealth Games Super Heavyweight Competition, the North American Super Heavyweight Championship and the Olympic Super Heavyweight Gold Medal

Like Joe Louis, Lennox was a credit to the sport; He was well-spoken and well-read; Lewis even played chess for a pastime

He is most famous for his two bouts each with Oliver McCall, Evander Holyfield and Hasim Rahman plus his bout with Mike Tyson; Among those he defeated were McCall, Holyfield, Tyson, Gary Mason, Mike Weaver, Donovan "Razor" Ruddock, Tony Tucker, Frank Bruno, Tommy Morrison, Ray Mercer, Shannon Briggs, David Tua and Vitali Klitschko

Lewis was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2009
