Chagaev is a natural left-hander with an aggressive style that has earned him the nickname the "White Tyson"; A good, two-handed hitter, he has twice won the Amateur World Heavyweight Championship; Ruslan has a strong left hand to go with a solid chin and brings a busy attack to the body

During his career, he was won the WBA Heavyweight Championship of the World, the WBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight Championship and the WBO Asia Pacific Heavyweight Championship

Chagaev has defeated such men as Nickolay Valuev, John Ruiz, Michel Sprott, Vladimir Virchis, Rob Calloway, Mark Krence, Sherman Williams and Asmir Vojnovic
