TYSON DRAWS ONE YEAR IN SLAM

There will never be a shortage of words when it comes to describing the knockout losses Mike Tyson has suffered in his turbulent life. Fight Fax, considered the premier record keeper in the boxing world should list Friday’s bout like this: Maryland KO1    Tyson.

SOME FOLKS “STUNNED”

As he handed down his decision, Judge Stephen Johnson said after chairing a three hour hearing, "Tyson repeatedly speaks and acts compulsively and violently."

ESPECIALLY

The people that were hurt the most by the one year jail term handed Tyson by Judge Johnson for his No Contest (Guilty) plea to two counts of Assault, were the folks at SHOWTIME. Showtime Event Television was coming off a 750,000 Pay Per View sales event with Tyson coming from behind and drilling Botha January 16.

SET (Viacom)has invested a huge amount of capital in resurrecting Tyson. Look for Viacom's stock to take a hit next week.

INDIANA JOINT NEXT!

Did you notice that I didn’t put a question mark at the end of that sub title? That’s because the state of Indiana is certainly going to violate Tyson’s Parole which was set to expire next month. And before any of you say huh, I haven’t been wrong on a boxing legal matter in quite some time.

TWO YEARS MINIMUM

The one year sentence handed down by Judge Thomas, could have been as much as 20 years. Add to the equation at least 12 months for the Parole violation in Indiana, and you won’t see Mike Tyson fighting again until he’s at least 35 years old.

CUFFED AND LED AWAY

After the Judge was done, the former heavyweight champion of the world was handcuffed and taken into custody. What was unclear to me was whether Tyson was  taken into custody simply for processing (Fingerprints & photos) and released. Or whether his one year sentence has begun.

PORTER RELEASED

Anthony Porter is a man with an IQ of 51. He was released from Illinois’ Death Row after a college class at Northwestern University located the actual killer who confessed to the crime of murder. Sadly, Mr. Porter spent 16 years in the pokey for a Capital crime that he didn’t commit.

SIXTH MAN

This is the sixth, that’s right sixth Death Row inmate in Illinois that the college class has freed in recent years.

HOPKINS TOPS SHOWTIME CARD

The nation’s capital Washington D.C. will be the setting for a Don King card tonight that will be aired on SHOWTIME at 10 PM ET & 10 PM PT (Delayed). On top will be a man who feels he gets no respect in IBF middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins.

KARMA BERNARD, IT’S KARMA!

Hopkins feels that he is vastly underpaid as a professional fighter. Never mind that he is getting $200 K for tonight's rematch with Robert Allen. You see, what Bernard doesn’t realize is that he is simply not a fighter who is in demand.

AMERICA PRESENTS IN HARD SPOT

How does Dan Goossen and company pay Bernard handsomely when there are no television networks willing to pay for Hopkins’ services? If Big Bird had not struck a    deal with rival promoter Don King who has SHOWTIME, Bernard wouldn’t be getting the $200 grand, or the television exposure.

MANY BELTS, MULTIPLE DIVISIONS HURT BERNARD MOST

There probably has not been a fighter in this era of several world middleweight champions and the like, that’s been hurt more by the watering down of the “world title” status than the Philly based fighter. Think about it, he’s willing to fight anybody from 154 to 168 lbs. And with out those junior and super divisions, Bernard might just be a household name.

CHEAP GUY

As for the bad Karma, Bernard does NOT tip at dinner, anywhere!

MANFREDY ACTED LIKE HE WON

If you saw Angel Manfredy strutting around the MGM Grand a couple of weeks ago in the days surrounding the Tyson-Botha fight, you would have thought it was he who  knocked out Floyd Mayweather, and not the opposite. I found his behavior arrogant!
