TYSON GOING TO JAIL

The People of the State of Maryland vs. Mike Tyson is set for next Friday. And unlike any of Tyson's prior fights, the former heavyweight champion is a 100-1 underdog. For a long time, there hasn't been a peep from the prosecutors office in Montgomery County, the office handling Tyson's August 31, assault on two men in Maryland.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

That's all I'd be saying if I was Tyson and I read the following statement of the Maryland State Attorney Doug Gansler. "Given the defendant's denial of responsibility, his defiance, his comments on his character, and his predictions of future conduct, the goals of deterrence and rehabilitation may never be achieved," Gansler said. All together now,
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

GULP! HE WASN'T DONE

Tyson is "nothing less than a timebomb buried in our own backyard," Gansler said in a report to presiding District Court Judge Stephen Johnson who will sentence Tyson in six days. He also went on chronicled Tyson's antics, both in and out of the ring. (Talk about a voluminous report)

TOUGH TALK A BLUFF?

No, Gansler is going to punish Tyson for his No Contest plea, adding that Mike technically never admitted guilt. In fact, on TV he denied hitting anybody.

HOW LONG?

A minimum of one year in jail. That's the way it is seen from this corner. His stint in Maryland's correctional facilities maybe just the first big house Mikie must check into to. You see, Indiana has Tyson on Felony parole for a Rape in 1992. Once again, all together now, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

KITCHEN HELP?

I could not imagine Mike Tyson working in the kitchen. No, I don't see him tossing salads. But this time when he goes back to the slam, Mike will have to contend with the Bite. And his fellow inmates ain't going to give him a pass on committing such a "Punk" act.

KING CAN'T FIGHT TAPIA'S FLIGHT

Earlier this week unbeaten WBA bantamweight Johnny Tapia walked out on promoter Don King after a two year relationship. Tony Holden of Tulsa, OK will promote Tapia's next two fights.

NO HAYSEED

Don't let his address fool you, Tony Holden is no country bumpkin. He has enjoyed success in Cable TV, before getting his boxing indoctrination by promoting and working deals for Tommy Morrison. It was Holden who drew up the contract that Johnny signed with King.

I was told some time ago about the clause in the contract that the Don had to keep Johnny extremely active, a fight every 45 days or the pact was void.

WIFE IN OVER HEAD

Teresa Tapia has been acting as Johnny's go between with promoter King. Can't you imagine the Don throwing knuckleballs like foreign TV sales, and site fees past Mrs. Tapia? Note: Holden may appear on Ring Talk this evening if I can locate him during the day.
