May 18, 2001 -- Star Boxing Telesco in Minute Waltz at Roseland Ballroom By Mike DeLisa David Telesco lived up to his tough guy reputation by overwhelming late sub Tom Cameron in under one minute of slugging in the feature bout at New York's Roseland ballroom. Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing promoted the card at the venerable New York venue, and they packed a long evening of fights with assorted other entertainments, including an imprompteau flash from one of the many "flexible" models showcasing Antonovich furs between bouts (I kid you not). In the co-featured event, erstwhile Roy Jones foe Lou Del Valle got in a solid workout in an 8-round decision over mobile Dennis McKinney. Honeyboy's timing seemed good, though he never put enough togehter to stop his foe. The undercard's highlight was a workmanlike effort by young lightweight Darling Jimenez. Jimenez, now undefeated in 5 fights, has 2 fights lined up in June so he is staying busy, always a good sign for a young fighter. The one lowlight -- the poor sound system prevented me from understanding the name of Naseem Deen's opponent. Deen bulled his way to a 4-round victory for his second win in as many outings. All in all, a good night of entertainment. Hell, even my favorite round card girl, Yelana, was there, which made the between-rounds enjoyable.
