The Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA and promoter Brian Halquist have inked a couple of interesting agreements according to matchmaker Bob Oleson. First, the Queen agrees to host ten pro boxing shows in 2002. Second, the Casino and Halquist have a contract with the new boxing program on the Showtime network, Sho-Box, for five televised Sho-box events. Oleson says the first of the Sho-Box cards is scheduled for September 29. The deal involves the network bringing in the two main event bouts and local promoter Brian Halquist providing the undercard bouts.

In a scheduled 10 round cruiserweight main event, Shane Swartz, 178 3/4 lbs of Fort Collins, CO TKO’d Ed Dalton, 178 1/2 lbs, of Emmet, ID at 1:05 of the third round. Dalton is on a 30 day suspension to recuperate.

In four round bouts:
Cruisers Michael Sams, 186 lbs, of Washington and Scott lansdon, 185 1/2 lbs, of Baker City, OR ended up with a No Contest decision when the bout was stopped due to an accidental head butt. Lansdon suffered a severe cut and the bout was halted at :22 of the 3rd round.

Manuel Reyes, 145 1/2 lbs, of Othello, WA KO’d Jorge Alonso, 145 1/4 lbs, of Portland, OR at 1:08 of the 3rd round. The Washington Department of Licensing gave Alonso a 60 day suspension to recover from the knockout.

Jr welterweight women, Kilisitina Makihele, 140 1/4 lbs, originally of Samoa and now fighting out of Kent, WA won a unanimous decision over Jessica La Pointe, 143 3/4 lbs, of Spanaway, WA.

Neil Stephens, 176 lbs, of Kent, WA won by TKO over Mario Higuera, 172 1/2 lbs, of Forest Grove, OR at 1:21 of the 1st round. Higuera was handed a 30 day medical suspension.

Eduardo Mendivil, 149 3/4 lbs, of Hemet, CA won a split decision over Alphonso "Scooter" meza, 146 1/4 lbs, of Zillah, WA.
