As of August 21, 1999
Aug. 22
Fukuoka, Japan
MASANORI SUGA, 105 3/4, W10 JUN ARLOS, WBC #5 minimum, 105 1/4.
Scored: 100-91 twice and 100-90.
Suga, JBC #9 minimum, won a decision over the Filipino who
didn't show good motivation to win. Suga's record? Just 4-4-1, 2 KOs.
The WBC #5 ranked contender lost to such a Japanese opponent.
Arlos' record: reportedly 27-8-2, 8 KOs.
Aug. 24
Tokyo, Japan
TOSHIHARU KAYAMA, 147, W10 MASAKAZU SATAKE, 146.
Kayama, 14-0-1, 9 KOs, barely kept his title on
a hairline nod (97-96, 96-95 and 98-95). Satake
confused the champ with his southpaw style.
TAIJI OKAMOTO, 121, KO3 JUNICHI WATANABE, 121 1/4.
Okamoto, previously ranked by the WBC, is 13-1-2, 11 KOs.
It is a beautiful KO.
Aug. 25
Tokyo, Japan
CHANA PORPAOIN, 108, W10 KEISUKE YOKOYAMA, 108.
It resulted in a lopsided affair with Chana
raising his mark to 41-1, 15 KOs.
HIROSHISA ISHIKAWA, 121 1/2 W10 AHMAD FANDY, 122 1/2.
WBC international champ Fandy made him groggy in the
8th, but it was only the round that he took. Ishikawa
kept aggressive.
