Harris Comes Home For Title Defense

Conroe— Local Fight Fans won't have to travel far to see Cut-N-Shoot's Trey Harris in the first defense of his Light Heavyweight State Title. On Friday, July 19 Harris will defend his title against Jerry Stephens at "Knockout Night" at the Montgomery County Park.

Promoters John Harris, of the newly formed Cut-N-Shoot Promotions and Joe Dumas, of Round One Productions have joined forces to bring live professional boxing to the area. "Local fans deserve to see this fight in Conroe." Said John Harris, Trey's brother and co-promoter of the event,"Trey has been fighting in Humble and most of the fans have to drive from Conroe to see the fight." Stephens, like Harris, comes from a fighting family. He is one of the fighting Stephens clan which includes six brothers. The older Anthony Stephens is the current NABF middleweight champ. Stephens will be the most experienced fighter Harris has faced to date. And though he cannot match Harris' perfect record, Stephens has experience in ten round fights against world class opponents while Harris has never been past six rounds.

"This fight will be the test that people have been waiting to see." Said co-promoter Joe Dumas, "If Trey can beat a fighter with Stephens' experience it will vault him into another level of competition." Preliminary bouts will include heavyweight Arnett Bass, Cleveland middleweight Danny Torres, and cruiserweight Dan Mack.

Tickets are available in Conroe at the First National Bank 756-1144. For information call John Harris (409)445-1069 or, in Houston, Joe Dumas at(713)329-7043.
