Dan "Porky" Flynn
(Daniel Francis Flynn)

BORN   April 5 1888; Boston, Massachusetts
DIED   1946 (leukemia)
HEIGHT 5-10 1/2
WEIGHT 185-203 lbs
RACE   White; Irish-American

Flynn, though not a power hitter, was a capable boxer; He was rather good early in his career, but fought long past his peak

He was muscular and well-developed; He obtained the nickname of "Porky" because of his love of pork scrapple; Some opponents called him the "meanest" and "ugliest" fighter they ever fought

Among those he defeated during his career were "Sandy" Ferguson, Jack "Twin" Sullivan, James "Gunner" Moir, the Dixie Kid, George "Boer" Rodel, "Battling" Jim Johnson, Jack Renault, and Jack Madden

Flynn was a White Hope of the teens
